President tells Nation :Shed more sweat for peace In his Address to the Nation on the occasion of the 58th Anniversary of
Independence President Mahinda Rajapakse said we should bear well in our
minds that if we are to stop the increasing flow of blood through war we
should shed more and more sweat in the cause of peace. Independence celebrated in solemn grandeur by P. Muttiah Sri Lanka celebrated its 58th Independence Anniversary with a solemn but
grand ceremony at Galle Face Green, Colombo yesterday with the participation
of thousands of people including state and party leaders, members of the
clergy of all religions, members of the diplomatic corps resident in Colombo
