Shell liveWIRE Young Entrepreneur Awards 2005 Shell liveWIRE held the Young Business Start Up Awards (YBSA) for the sixth consecutive year, at the BMICH, recently. The YBSA ceremony this year was held conjointly with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) prestigious 'Entrepreneur of the Year' awards program. Ms. M. Chandima Kalhari of Kalpana Sweet House, Thunkama, Embilipitiya was adjudged the overall winner, and received a cash award of Rs. 200,000 and Shell LiveWIRE certificate, while Ms. Samanthi Rathnayake of Lily Dairy Products and K. Sanjith Niroshan of Durable Auto A/C were adjudged second and third place winners, and received cash awards of Rs. 100,000 and Rs. 50,000 and Shell LiveWIRE certificates. Seven young entrepreneurs received national merit awards including a cash prize at the ceremony. Apart from monetary awards ten national finalists got the opportunity to display their products and services during the ceremony. This helped these young entrepreneurs to build new linkages with others in the market. In addition, 20 young entrepreneurs became provincial winners and were awarded Shell LiveWIRE certificates and Rs. 5,000 each. The Shell LiveWIRE's Young Business Start-up Awards program is aimed at discovering and encouraging talented young entrepreneurs to start their own enterprises. |
