Tie up to launch Ceylinco Planet by Elmo Leonard Ceylinco Consolidated last week tied up with Planet Education, India, to launch Ceylinco Planet, which will provide the service of identifying and facilitating university education overseas. Ceylinco Consolidated, with claims of being the largest conglomerate here, was already engaged in the local education industry. The Indian company is the nation's largest and most popular foreign education provider, Planet India's CAO, Sanket Shah said. Planet India, had accounted for more than 10,000 students studying in universities outside its borders, while there are around 4,000 Indian companies providing similar services. Each year, over 6,000 Sri Lankan students seek education overseas. But, Sri Lanka is today placed with the same problems India faced in the 1990's of not being able to identify appropriate universities for specific courses of study, being backed with financial, accommodation and other related services, Ceylinco Education group's executive director, Dr. Punaijeeva Karunanayake said. This is Planet India's first tie up outside its boundaries and has projections of forging links with Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Planet, is said to represent 300 reputed universities and educational institutions across diverse countries such as Australia, US, UK, New Zealand and Singapore. Ceylinco Planet is at Duplication Road, Colombo 3 and is expected to provide all services needed for education, overseas, as a one stop shop free Ceylinco Education group's deputy chairman, Jagath Alwis said. The other opportunities Ceylinco Planet will provide include counselling, securing admission as well as a hassle free application process, visa application procedures, coaching for IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GMAT and GRE and even locating accommodation in the country of choice. |
