Enjoying the cold breeze that sweeps over the waters of the Nuwara Wewa in the historic city of Anuradhapura, the Galway Miridiya Lodge offers an ideal meeting place for people from diverse cultures and nationalities to taste Sri Lankan hospitality with authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.

Located in the world heritage site of Anuradhapura, Galway Miridiya Lodge is one of the best lodging facilities that offers comfort for visiting the historic sites such as Ruwanweli Seya, Sri Maha Bodhiya while enjoying the calm and enticing environment overlooking the panoramic view of Nuwara Wewa, a symbol of ancient glory and part of the proud hydraulic civilisation of Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura was the seat of governance and heir to a rich culture nourished by Buddhism. It is Sri Lanka's only planned city surrounded by tanks and paddy fields. Steeped in history that goes back to 2,500 years, the historic city is still reminiscent of a glorious era where, culture and religion had flourished in the midst of prosperity.

It has been declared a world heritage site like that of the Pyramids of Egypt, due to the presence of ruined cities, large number of pagodas and amazing ancient canal system that still functions and co-exists well with the environment can be found there .

"The Galway Miridiya Lodge will go for refurbishment and expansion. Under the expansion, the present capacity of 39 rooms will increase to 72 rooms by the next season. At present the hotel offers Standard rooms and deluxe rooms.

In addition to banqueting and outdoor catering, the hotel enjoys a regular clientele of locals and foreigners.

The spacious Banquet Hall is ideal for weddings and to celebrate birthdays and important occasions. A Conference Hall with 60 seating capacity is also available for seminars and workshops and accommodation is provided on request", said Resident Manager of Galway Miridiya Lodge, Anton Perera.

Cricket, badminton, waterpolo and carrom are some of the sports the Miridiya Lodge offers and almost every room in this eco-friendly hotel is equipped with hot and cold water bath tubs, telephones, mini bar and room service. Guests are also offered service of on call doctors and same day laundry services.

The unique and eco-friendly architecture of the hotel is the end result of the hard work of Ken Peiris and Chandana Fernando. Galway Miridiya is a member of Galway Management Service, which also manages the Hotel Nilketha Villa surrounded by green paddy fields.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Nilketha Villa offers the much-needed serene and calm environment and is an ideal location to spend your hard-earned holiday, sight seeing and visiting the sacred city of Anuradhapura.

Emirates and SriLankan offer 'Cash Plus Miles' tickets to Singapore

Travel to Singapore from Sri Lanka has been made easier by Emirates and SriLankan, through a 'Cash plus Miles' offer. The offer which is valid till April 30, was launched in Colombo for members of Skywards - the award-winning frequent flyer program of Emirates and SriLankan.

Emirates' Sales Manager Colombo Devika Ellepola said "This offer represents considerable cash savings and is also an opportunity for Skywards members to redeem accrued miles. It provides good value when compared to either a full airfare or a normal reward ticket."

SriLankan's Manager Sales Fayaz Thaha said: "We always look for ways and means to reward our loyal customers and this Colombo to Singapore Cash plus Miles promotion is one such offer, which I'm sure Skywards members will welcome."

The offer cannot be used in conjunction with standard upgrade rewards available to Skywards members. Members will not accrue any Skywards Miles or Tier Miles on travel under this offer. Outbound travel on the 'Cash plus Miles' tickets must be completed by April end.

Sri Lanka enjoys the distinction of being one of the top 10 countries in terms of Skywards membership. Worldwide membership of the loyalty program, which is available in over 200 countries, has topped 1.8 million. Skywards offers three tiers of membership, Blue, Silver and Gold, with each membership tier providing exclusive privileges. Members earn Skywards Miles when they fly Emirates, SriLankan or partner airlines, or when they use the program's designated hotels, car rentals, financial, leisure and lifestyle partners.

Skywards Miles can be redeemed for an amazing range of rewards, including flights, upgrades, hotel accommodation, excursions, exclusive shopping, and fine dining.

When redeeming Skywards Miles, members can receive free tickets not only from Emirates and SriLankan but also from other Skywards partners worldwide such as South African Airways, Delta, Japan Airlines and United Airlines.
