Business mission to Chennai The Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry (SLCSI) has organised a 20- member business promotion mission to Chennai (South India) with the support of the Department of Commerce in Sri Lanka and the Deputy High Commission office in Chennai, in early June. This mission will be led by the President of the Chamber, Aloy Jayawardene. The objectives of the mission are to promote trade and service between South India and Colombo. The mission is co-ordinated with Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers, Association and India - Asean - Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The first two days of the mission will be their visit to "Acmee 2006", an all India industrial exhibition, one of the largest of its kind in India. It is organised by the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) and AIEMA Techonology Centre (ATC) which from June 8 - 12 at the Chennai Trade Centre. Three members of the Chamber are participating in the exhibition. "Acmee 2006" provides total guidance for product selections, marketing opportunities, financial arrangements and possibilities of joint ventures. There will be several participants from UK, Australia, Switzerland, Korea and Germany. The exhibitors, besides demonstrating their products, will also conduct seminars on topics of current interest. The Commercial Counsellor at Sri Lanka's mission in Chennai is organising one to one business meetings and will discuss possibilities of arranging a representative to take care of local products to be marketed in India and discuss possibilities of joint ventures. The Chamber is due to sign a MoU with the India - Asean - Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Chennai. |
