Susantha Boteju retains title by Leslie Fernando Susantha Boteju of Colombo YMCa retained the title with yet another pleasing performances and showing superior due artistry over his opponent Naresh Samarawickrema of YMBA Galle in the finals of the 52nd National Snooker Championships played at the U. H. Sumathipala Billiards and Snooker parlour at Reid Avenue yesterday. Boteju proved his class with a well controlled game to win the first session played in the morning 5-1. The scores being 71-17, 20-60, 89-13, 63-18, 66-34 and 79-56. He displayed superb pocketing to complete two fine breaks of 65 and 60 in the first and third frames. In the evening session Boteju continued the same form and outplayed Samarawickrema controlling the on ball in perfect style to complete a well deserved victory. He overcame by winning the other games with the scores 72-18, 22-60, 68-36. In the semi-finals Boteju beat M. I. Nagaria of Otter AC 6-2: 45-60, 106-0, 21-59, 69-24, 89-0, 75-23, 75-50, 75-23, 70-35. Boteju performed with two highest breaks of 106 in the first and 84 in the fifth frame. Samarawickrema beat P. Pushpakumara of YMBA Borella 6-1: The scores 56-30, 71-13, 76-19, 10-73, 50-13, 78-32, 84-2. According to a senior official of the Billiards and Snooker Association
