Havelocks - Old Zahirians kicks off Kit Super 8 Rugby C'ship Havelocks take on Old Zahirians in the first quarter-final of the Dialog GSM sponsored Kit Super 8 Rugby Championship of the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) at Police Park today (Sunday). In the other "quarters", Air Force meet CH & FC on Tuesday, CR & FC battle Navy on Wednesday and Police take on Army on Thursday. All quarter-final games will be at Police Park. The semi-finals are on May 7 and 8 at Havelock Park with the final scheduled for May 11 at Longden Place. Dialog GSM's Sales and Marketing Manager, Nushad Perera, said that his establishment as one of the country's foremost sports sponsors, is happy to support this inaugural tournament to encourage players and further improve the standard of rugby in the country. The champions will be awarded Rs. 50,000 and trophy, runners-up Rs. 30,000 and the losing semi-finalists Rs. 25,000 each. In addition, the Player of the Tournament will receive Rs. 10,000.
