Sri Lanka Schools should fare prominently in Hong Kong

The 16-member Sri Lanka Schools Swimming Team left on Thursday for Hong Kong to participate at the 2nd Asian schools swimming championships that started yesterday and ends tomorrow (Aug 31) at the Kowloon Park Swimming Pool in Hong Kong.

Mrs. Ranjani de Fonseka, Secretary, Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association said that the swimmers selected were after the Schools Swimming Championships held in May.

Swimmers from 14 Asian countries will compete in the championships. Lankan swimmers will participate in 12 individual events and four relays. Sri Lanka Schools swimmers fared prominently at the 1st Asian Schools Swimming Championships held in Singapore in 2001, winning three golds, four silver and 3 bronze medals and they are expected to perform well this year too, as they had been training for the past three weeks.
