Nepal, Pakistan reach Badminton semi-finals
Shuttlers from Nepal and Pakistan with superior court craft reached
the semi-finals of the men's badminton team event matches worked off at
the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium yesterday.
In the 10th South Asian Games Badminton discipline Asia's super power
India has already achieved success in the individual events and they are
expected reign supreme in the team events too.
Yesterday's men's team event Quarter finals saw first Nepal rout
Maldives 5-0. Their players moved on the court and played aggressively
to outclass their opponent.
The first three singles was won by Nepal's Balram Thara, Pasupati
Paherij, Ram Singh Chowdhary - they beat the Maldivian convincingly.
Hassan Afsheen 21/11, 21/19, Nasheen Sharafuddin 21-07, 21-09,
Mohamed Ajfan 21/16, 21/09. In the doubles Nepals Ramthapa and
Pashupathi Paneru beat Maldives combination of Ibrahim Shamiv and
Nasheev Sharafuddin 21/10, 21/14, Ram Singh Chawdhary and Indra Mahata
beat Hassan Afsheen and Mohamed Maujud 21/14, 21/13.
Pakistan thrashed Bangladesh 4/1 in the other Quarter finals.
Umer Zeeshan beat Mostafa Jabed 21/14, 21/16 Zafartasneem beat Rasel
Kabir 21/15, 15/21, 21/18 Wajid Ali CH beat Ahsun Habib Parash 21/14,
16/21, 19/16, Wajid Ali CH and Waqas Ahmed beat Mostafa Jabed and Mokter
Hosain 21/23, 21/15, 21/16.

Today the Semi-finals in both men and women team events will be
played. At 9 a.m. women's semi-final at two courts India v Nepal and Sri
Lanka v Pakistan. Mens semi between India v Nepal and Sri Lanka v
Pakistan commence at 11.30 a.m. on both courts. |
