Easy for Lanka in TT

The Sri Lanka Table Tennis team put up a good performance to beat
Bhutan paddlers in easy straight sets in their women's singles on the
opening day of the Table Tennis championships of the 10th South Asian
Games now in progress at the S. Thomas' College indoor stadium, Mt.
Lavinia.
For Sri Lanka Ishara Madurangi beat Hema of Bhutan in easy straight
sets (11/8, 11/8, 11/9). Kalpani Herath triumphed in the second match
against Phuntsho (11/7). Though Phuntsho offered stiff resistance in the
first set Kalpani improved her game to win the sets easily (11/7, 11/4,
11/9).
Deepika Rodrigo had an easy win against Yeshi Choden (11/5, 11/1,
11/4).
Meanwhile, India beat Maldives in straight (3/0) and Pakistan
overcame Bangladesh in straight sets (3/1). The gold medal prospect for
Sri Lanka is in women's event.
The Men's events will start today. The Sri Lanka Men's and Women's
teams are scheduled to compete with Pakistan teams. |
