Sachith Pathirana helps Kandy Youths win

A mega performance by 16-year-old Trinity College schoolboy and Sri Lanka under 17 skipper Sachith Pathirana helped Kandy Youths Cricket Club to register a four-wicket win over Matale Cricket Club in their Sri Lanka Cricket's under 23 cricket tournament match played at Katugastota recently.

Sachith Pathirana was in such menacing form that he top scored in the first innings with a hard-hit 79 with 3 sixes and 13 fours and followed up with another pulsating knock of 55 in the second which contained 8 fours and 2 sixes which helped Kandy Youths to race against time and clinch victory. When Matale CC batted it was that boy Pathirana again when he wrought havoc on their opponents batting line up with his left arm spinners by capturing 4 for 59 and 5 for 77 giving him a match bag of 9 fo 136.

Kandy Youths CC 315 all out in 61.1 overs (Sachith Pathirana 79, M. Foshal 54, . Silva 29, Dilip Perera 28, R. Karunaratne 24, S. Senanayake 4 for 81, J. M. C. Bandara 3 for 39) and 146 for 6 wickets in 19.3 overs (K. Silva 21, Sachith Pathirana 55, M. Foshal 23 not out, D. Perera 19, S. Senaviratne 3 for 58).
