Abducted businessman released

The Sea Street businessman Palanirajah who was abducted by a group of persons last Tuesday has been released by his captors. However, his son and the employee of the jewellery shop are still held in captivity, business sources told the Sunday Observer.

The whereabouts of Palanirajah are still not known although he had telephoned a businessman to inform him that he was quite safe and sound and that no harm was caused to him by his captors.

He had given no reasons as to why his son and his employee were not released. Some persons had seen him arriving at his jewellery shop at Sea Street, Colombo on Friday morning. He had then left the premises in a white van after removing two briefcases with him.
