'Techno 2006' from Oct. 19-22
The Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) launched the 'Techno
2006, the premier engineering and technology exhibition to be held from
October 19-22 at the BMICH.
This year's exhibition is a landmark event in the history of the IESL
which marks its centenary. It is the 21st in the series of techno
exhibitions and the event of the centenary year is significant to the
IESL and all engineers in the country, Past President IESL, B. R. O.
Fernando said.
Fernando said 'Techno 2006' will be an occasion where most
appropriate technology to suit one's needs will be found and where a
supplier meets the widest user community of technology.
The objective of the event is to create a platform where producers
and agents could present their technological solutions to customers who
require inspiration and information on the latest developments.
Techno has gained popularity as an event where all players in the
industrial, business, research and education sectors could present their
engineering and technological innovations and solutions for the benefit
of the community, Fernando said.
There will be 270 stalls featuring developments in electrical and
electronic engineering, civil engineering, agriculture and plantation
sectors and building services industry.
Apart from the industrialists, stalls have been allocated for
engineering faculties, research institutions and government
organisations to showcase the progress in engineering education. The
award winning innovations of the Junior Inventor of the Year competition
held by the IESL among students will be displayed.
In recognition of the efforts of stallholders 15 awards will be
presented in five categories. The awards ceremony will be held on
October 27.
The first Techno exhibition was held in 1985 titled 'Electro Techno'
by the IESL engineering committee.
