More Indian tourists here

The number of Indian tourists visiting the country is on the increase after a successful campaign in India recently, a spokesman of the Ministry of Tourism said.

According to Ministry statistics, the arrival of Indian tourists has risen by 25% compared to figures of last year.

The Ministry expects over 10,000 Indian tourists this year, who are expected to bring in nearly Rs. 600 million in foreign exchange.

The special promotional campaign was launched through Indian electronic and print media this year. The Tourism Ministry plans to conduct similar promotions in several other countries.

The Government has also plans to develop special sites such as places of worship in Seethaeliya in Nuwara Eliya to attract more Indian tourists.

Both countries have expanded their airline services, hotel facilities and land transport to cater to the increasing demand.
