Teacher killing: Police still in the dark
by Jayampathy Jayasinghe
The two police teams investigating into the murder of schoolteacher
Subashani Seneviratne (47) in Nugegoda last week are expected to make a
breakthrough that would lead to the arrest of two assassins who escaped
in a trishaw after attacking the teacher and her daughter with a
machete.
DIG Western Province (South), P. Pathirana told the "Sunday Observer"
the two police teams working on the case will soon be able to find the
killers. However, due to the sensitive nature of the case he was
tightlipped not to reveal details of the case. Mrs. Seneviratne was
hacked to death by two assassins who immediately rushed out of the house
after attacking her.
According to the description given by her son to the police, who had
seen the two assailants the assassins appeared to be between 25-30
years. He told police that one man had his hair grown up to his
shoulder, tinted in a peculiar shade. OIC Crimes, Mirihana Police, Chief
Inspector R. K. D. S. Wijewardena said a carpenter who was attending to
some repairs at the Seneviratne home was being questioned.
DIG Western Province South P. Pathirana is directing investigations. |
