Distance mode education at our doorstep

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi launched its academic program in Sri Lanka in collaboration with Regent International Institute of Higher Studies (RIIHS) at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo on Wednesday. The academic program of IGNOU is recognised by the University Grants Commission in the Commonwealth nations and will commence their courses early next month in Gampaha.

One of the unique features of the program is the distance learning system where students will be provided with a comprehensive set of models prepared by IGNOU.

The University follows a learner-centric approach and adopts a flexible policy for entry qualifications. The program includes a fair number of contact sessions for each course and other required services and counselling.

IGNOU Vice Chancellor, Prof. V.N. Rajasekaran said the academic program will give an opportunity to Sri Lankan students who have completed A/L examinations and to those who are employed to continue with higher education.

The IGNOU academic program includes a management degree, post graduate diploma in disaster management, diploma in finance, marketing, HR management, information technology, nutrition and health education.
