Party night with Y fm

MUSIC:Y fm, often dubbed as the "original youth channel",
hosted their first anniversary party at BMICH Western garden on December
9. A line up of up coming artists of the new generation were present to
entertain the crowd of music lovers.
Since its inception in December 1, 2005, Y fm revolutionized the
youth market in Sri Lanka. The channel prides itself for the best hits
by DJ music. Its goal is to provide quality music to teenagers through a
variety of programmes like the Y fm house party, radio club and Friday
night club.
The first anniversary party began with a blend of DJ music. The
channel's popular Djs: Dil, Shenaz, Slash and Madhu kept up the party
atmosphere. Teesha was first to come on stage to captivate the crowd
while Dushyanth Weeraman, the younger brother of Santhush of Bathiya and
Santhush fame, proved himself worthy in following his brother's
footsteps.
Queen of hip hop and RnB, Ashanthi, joined in the entertainment along
with Chinthy, the star from Negambo. Iraj Weeraratne, also know as Sri
Lanka's maestro of hip hop, rocked the party with a variety of songs
including a hit from his latest album "Aloke".
Fans of Bathiya and Sunthush were treated to ethnic fusion music as
the duo was joined on stage with a group of dancers. Heart throb Shihan
Mihiranga was the last vocalist to perform on stage, as he dazzled the
crowd with his charismatic performance.
The winners of the "Y fm rock climbing competition", another event
held to celebrate the channel's first anniversary, were also presented
with the prizes at this event.
Towards the end of the day a three layered cake decorated in red and
white was cut by Thanuja Jayawardana,the manager of Y fm. She thanked
all those who made it possible for the channel to attain its success. |
