Major General's missing son returns

Retired Major General M.D. Fernando's son Mauyra Dimuthu's Malavige (42)who disappeared after he walked away from his office situated at De Fonseka Mawatha Colombo 5 around 6.00 p.m. on Thursday had returned home safely on Friday night around 11.p.m. a senior police officer told the "Sunday Observer" said.

However it is still not clear whether Mauyra Dimuthu was abducted by a group of persons while he walked to a nearby snack bar situated at De Fonseka road Colombo 5, or whether he went elsewhere on his own accord. Initial investigations carried out by the Bambalapitiya police revealed that he had come to office that day in his vehicle around 11.a.m. Thereafter he had walked towards the snack bar but apparently had not visited the snack bar.

Meanwhile his office staff reported his disappearance to the Bambalapitiya police when he failed to come back to office after 10.00 p.m. that day. Even his cellular mobile phone too had not responded when his office staff tried to contact him. Muyra Dimuthu lives with his family at Negogoda.

At the time of writing the story, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was questioning him with regard to his disappearance.
