Singapore funded Housing project for tsunami victims
The handing over ceremony of 150 newly constructed tsunami houses
plus the new playground and the community hall jointly funded by
Singapore Red Cross Society and Buddhist Research Society of Singapore
at Singhapura Maithreegama Siribopura, Hambantota will take place on
December 26 to mark the second anniversary of the tragedy.
The project is an initiative by Ven. Bellanwila Dhammaratana Nayaka
Thera, Advisor, Buddhist Research Society of Singapore (BRSS) and chief
incumbent, Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya.
It was partly open last December by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Minister of Agriculture Development Chamal Rajapaksa will be the Chief
Guest, Ven. Dr Ittapane Dhammalankara Anu Nayaka Thera, Ven. Prof.
Bellanwila Wimalaratana Thera, Chancellor, Sri Jayawardenepura
University and Viharadhikari, Bellanwila Raja Maha Vihara and Prof Wong
Weng Fai of BRSS will participate.
New recipients will also receive beds, chairs, furniture and other
household items. |
