Bank not informed of any unpleasantness caused to Chamara Vithanage

RUGBY FOOTBALL: The Manager, Human Resources (Administration) of Sampath Bank, Thilak Abeysinghe, with reference to the Sunday Observer story on December 10, headlined: "Best Player Vithanage in search of job" on page 17, states that Chamara Vithanage who was selected "Best Ruggerite of the Year by the Sri Lanka Rugby Union (SLRFU) at the Observer-Caltex Rugby Awards, was recruited by the Bank in 2000 and was attached to the Kandy Branch and given every possible assistance for the development of his sports career.

Abeysinghe goes on to state that the Bank has never been informed by Vithanage verbally, in writing or at least by his letter of resignation about any unpleasantness faced by him at work.

In his interview with the Sunday Observer Vithanage said: "there were certain persons who were against me and I resigned due to unpleasantness at work. I have applied to Seylan Bank and I hope that they will employ me soon.
