Korean jobs only through Govt. channels

Korean job opportunities for Sri Lankan workers will be available
only through Government channels in future said, Labour Relations and
Foreign Employment Minister Athauda Seneviratne following a meeting with
a five-member Korean parliamentary group at the Labour Secretariat,
Narahenpita.
The group comprises a member of the Korean Plan Implementation and
Energy Conservation Committee I. Hyungkyu and a member of the Korean
Labour and Environmental Committee S. Maeng. Korean Ambassador for Sri
Lanka Kwon Yung Dal was also present.
Under the new scheme carried out in collaboration with the Sri Lanka
Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), all future vacancies in the Korean
industrial sector will be made known to Sri Lankan workers through the
media and the SLBFE website at Battaramulla.
Thereafter those interested could apply for jobs and their
applications will be scrutinised by the Korean employment agents who
visit Sri Lanka often.
Minister Seneviratne said all Lankan workers, seeking overseas
employment in future will have to undergo a special awareness program on
HIV-AIDS. |
