Prof. Vitharana invites positive criticism
Those who want to put forward their proposals or criticise the APRC,
they must come to the APRC table and do so without criticising through
posters and other sources" said APRC Chairman and Minister Prof. Tissa
Vitharana at the inter-religious peace Thai Pongal festival - 2007, at
St. Mary's Church, Yatiyantota.
The program was organised to invoke God's blessings for permanent
peace in Sri Lanka and to mark the Thai Pongal festival organised by the
Caritas Sri Lanka - SEDEC, in collaboration with the Parish Council of
St. Mary's Church, Yatiyantota with the participation of inter-religious
dignitaries, A.G.A., O.I.C. Yatiyantota, D.S., C.T.B. Avissawella,
teachers, school children and the public who represented both religious
and the communities chaired by S.P Anthonymuththu PRO, Caritas Sri Lanka
- SEDEC.
The minister said that the UNP will attend the next APRC meeting with
the majority of the representatives recommendations and suggestions. The
reports will be submitted to President Mahinda Rajapaksa which will be
accepted by the people to proceed further in the peace talks to bring
about a permanent solution to the ethnic crisis.
The Minister pointed out that anyone who wishes to suggest new
proposals or to criticise, are welcome to the APRC table to do so. All
religious leaders prayed for Prof. Tissa Vitharana's efforts as the
Chairman of APRC to settle the ethnic issue.
