Mangala advised to give up arrogance

Shuttle diplomacy is on the move within the SLFP to settle differences between former Minister Mangala Samaraweera and President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Some senior SLFP MPs have advised Samaraweera to give up his arrogant attitude before coming to a settlement.

Meanwhile, some MPs are lobbying to suspend the membership of Samaraweera and Sripathi Suriyaarachchi.

Supporters of Samaraweera at the SLFP Balamandalaya meeting held yesterday evening urged to take back Samaraweera to the Government. Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva who participated at the meeting explained to the participants that the decision had been taken with pain and was necessitated as Minister Samaraweera started revolting against the President.

However, no decision was taken to change the party leadership in the Matara District. Nimal Siripala de Silva, Reginald Cooray and Mahindananda Aluthgamage participated at the meeting.

Earlier, when the meeting was called, Samaraweera asked for the postponement of the meeting.
