Imesh Chaturanga - up and coming swimming star

Swimming: K. Imesh Chathuranga of D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo is a swimmer who holds much promise for the future. He is still in the under 10 age group but his achievements indicate that he is capable of making rapid progress.

In the Novices Aquatic Championships this year, he won three events 50 metre free-style, 50-metre butterfly stroke and 50-metre backstroke in the under 10 age group.

Then in the same age group at the inter-house meet, Imesh established four meet records.

50-metre butterfly stroke (41.28 secs), 50-metre backstrokes (43.14-secs), 50-metre breaststrokes (50.71 secs), and 4 x 50 metre individuals Medlay (3 mins 28.0 secs).

The principal of D. S. Senanayake College Mr. Asoka Senavi Hewage and Master-in-charge S. M. Wijesinghe have helped Imesh tremendously in his swimming activities and the swimmer concerned has not disappointed them.

The coachers-in-charge of swimming at D. S. Senanayake College are PSP and Dinesh Dayananda.
