CH kicks off 'A' div. rugby with Air Force on May 18

RUGBY: The Caltex 'A' Division Inter-Club League Rugby Championship kicks-off with the first-round games on May 18 with CH & FC hosting Air Force at Maitland Crescent, while CR & FC clash with Army on May 19 at Havelock Park with two games scheduled for May 20 (Kandy Sports Club vs Old Zahirians at Nittawela and Havelocks vs Police at Havelock Park). This is in Segment I.

The Segment II games kicks-off on May 19 with Kurunegala RFU taking on Galle and KV meeting Jawatte Lions, while the Dim/Dicks vs Petersons game is scheduled for May 20 at Radella. Also in Segment II are Navy, Kandy Youth or Old Trinitians SC.

The first-round games in both Segment I and II and on July 1 with the second-round scheduled for July 6 to August 5.

The first six teams in Segment I of the first-round will play each other for the Caltex-Trophy. The last two sides in Segment I and the first four sides in Segment II in the first-round will play in the second-round for the Caltex Plate, while the remaining four sides and the top two teams from the 'B' Division which is played for the Rudra Rajasingham Memorial Trophy will form another group at the end of the first-round and play each other once for the Caltex Bowl.

The draw for the Caltex 'B' Division League will only be conducted by the Tournament Committee after the confirmation of the number of teams that are participating.

The Caltex Knock-out Tournament for the Clifford Cup is scheduled to be played from August 10 to August 18.

The quarter-finals will be from August 10 to 12, semi-finals on August 14 and 15 with the final on August 18.

The President's Trophy too is being revived this season with the quarter-finals from August 24 to 26, semi-finals on August 28 and 29 and final on September 1.

The draw is to be based on the standings in the Caltex Clifford Cup.
