Canoeing on the Kalu Ganga - a popular water sport

Kani Lanka Resort and Spa:

Canoeing on the Kalu Ganga (Black river) on the coastal belt of Sri Lanka is a spectacular way of spending good days entertainment especially if you are a water sport lover.

Just forty-five minutes away from Colombo Kani Lanka Resort and Spa, Katukurunda, Kalutara is one of Sri Lanka's finest Beach Resorts which is known for Canoeing. Canoeing down the Kalu Ganga is a great time to enjoy tranquillity amidst the beautiful scenery of Kalutara. Kalu Ganga is one of the four major rivers of Sri Lanka which flows from Adams Peak to the Indian Ocean.

Kani Lanka Resort and Spa, is beautifully situated at the tip of the Kalu Ganga river, along the west coast of Sri Lanka amidst a spectacular scenic beauty the paradise has to offer any visitor, local or foreigner.

The hotel is beautifully designed on a theme depicting nature; one of sea water (Karadiya) and the other of river water (Miridiya), while the hotel has being uniquely built at the tip of the great river (Konaya) which meets the Indian Ocean, a perfect blend of tranquillity and reality of nature encountered.

The way of life of the people of Kalutara is significantly depicted, if you would pause awhile to observe the different lifestyles of these people on the coastal belt. M. A. Upul Attapattu, Resident Manageer of Kani Lanka Resort and Spa said the hotel has 105 standard guest rooms and six junior suits with all facilities uniquely designed on the hotel's themes, - Karadiya, Miridiya and Konaya which gives you a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean, and the tranquil Kalu Ganga.

The variety of cuisine the hotel offers at its two restaurants focuses on traditional Asian cooking with a modern twist. Sitting at its Palm Restaurant overlooking the sea and the river is a romantic and memorable experience, especially at night, under a starlit sky. The Miridiya bar too, gives you a similar feeling as it overlooks the Kalu Ganga while its Pool Terrace overlooks the Indian Ocean.

The Hotel Spa by Amaan, offers its visitors packages for well-being, balances harmony and peace which is co-related to the hotels theme.

The Spa also offers a range of beauty therapies such as body wrap, body therapies and scrubs, facials, hair treatment, and slimming treatments.

The hotel also boasts of wind surfing, water skiing, and boating bird watching, a mini golf and tennis court, and a reasonably good pool. More significant, which makes Kalutara much sort after is of course, the famous Sacred Kalutara Bodhi, by the main road which attracts many devotees and other passers-by, who make a stop.

The Sacred Kalutara Bodhiya and the Kalu Ganga also add to the attractions and scenic beauty of the hotel. So if you are thinking of a holiday down South, not too far off from Colombo, Kani Lanka Resort and Spa is an ideal location for relaxation and water sport.
