25th Anniversary celebrations
CRICKET: The 25th anniversary celebrations of the Nondescripts
Schools of Cricket will be held on September 10 at the NCC grounds,
Maitland Place.
The Nondescripts School of Cricket is more than just a schools of
cricket. It's an institution reputed for its thoroughness and consistent
standards and has helped the Rupavahini Corporation to produce its first
ever documentary titled "Telecricket" in 1996 which was telecast over a
period of three months. It also helped Sirasa TV to produce its first
ever cricket coaching documentary titled "Kadulla" in 1998 and 1999.
Some of the leading cricketers from the Nondescripts Schools of
Cricket in Tests and ODI's include Mahela Jayawardena, Kumar Sangakkara,
Russel Arnold, Naweed Nawaz, Thilan Samaraweera, Dulip Samaraweera,
Kumar Dharmasena, Jehan Mubarak, Avishka Gunawardena and several others.
The steering committee of the Nondescripts Schools of Cricket Parents
Association has organised a full days programme on September 10 with a
Twenty-20 Inter-House tournament where about 60 senior players belonging
to four houses will compete for the Ranjith Fernando Challenge Trophy.
The President of the NCC, Leslie Hewage, will be the chief guest. (L.G.)
