Schucroft conferred 'Sir' title

BODYBUILDING: Chairman of the Interim Committee of the Sri Lanka
Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (SLBB & FF), Jeffrey Schucroft, was
conferred with the title "Sir" by the Council of Royal Monaco recently.
Schucroft was awarded this Royal Honour for his outstanding services
towards the growth and development of the sport of bodybuilding
throughout Sri Lanka and Asia for over 35 years. Minister of Sports
Gamini Lokuge appointed Schucroft as the Chairman of the Interim
Committee last month (July).
Schucroft was a former Mr. Ceylon in the 1960s and represented Sri
Lanka in numerous international contests.
He was earlier the President of the SLBB & FF for over 10 years and
is presently a Vice-President of the Asian Bodybuilding Federation (ABBF)
for the past 10 years and a member of the International Federation of
Bodybuilding (IFBB) too. He is also the Chairman of the Disciplinary
Committee of the ABBF and is a member of the Institute of Marine
Engineers, London.
Meanwhile, a six-member squad will represent Sri Lanka at the 41st
Asian Men's Bodybuilding Championships and the ABBF Special Congress in
Shanghai, China from August 28 to September 3. They are scheduled to
leave for China tomorrow (Monday).
The four "Lifters" are: Subash Siriwardene (Bantam Weight), Sanjeewa
Ruwankumara (Light Weight), Sanjeewa Asanka (Middle Weight) and Sisira
Kumara (Light Heavy Weight). They will be accompanied by Ranil Perera as
coach and Jeffrey Schucroft as manager.
