Asiri Hospitals makes impact in sector
Asiri Hospitals will consolidate its position with the takeover of
Asha Central Hospitals PLC which will have a major impact on the
hospital sector, said Director, CEO Asha Phillip Dimuthu Abeysekera.
He said Asiri Hospitals intends gaining more ground in the hospital
sector with the takeover of Asha Central and also with plans to set up
another hospital at Norris Canal Road.
"The market has been gaining momentum during the past few days due to
the prices of Asha Central Hospital shares," Abeysekera said.
He said the market is expected to grow if peace talks resume.
The management of Asha Central Hospitals PLC changed hands on the
Colombo Stock Exchange on Thursday for Rs. 1.8 billion with a consortium
comprising Asiri Hospitals, Asiri Surgical and Soft Logic Holdings.
The consortium acquired 81.56 percent stake of the issued share
capital of Asha Central Hospitals with a mandatory offer to be made for
all the remaining shares of the hospital at Rs. 98.75 per share.
It is said that through a synergy of the hospitals and also Asiri
Hospitals having the best laboratories a quality service could be
expected in addition to the use of human resources.
According to sources, Asiri Hospitals had bought 43.046 percent of
nearly 82 percent of Asha Central on offer while Asiri Surgical grabbed
29.45 percent with Softlogic buying 9.06 percent.
The new board of Asha Central Hospitals PLC will be made known next
week. |
