Lions donate hearing aids to N.H.
A set of two hundred hearing aids to the value of Rs 4 million with
two audiometers to the value of Rs 1.5 m was donated to the ENT Unit of
the Colombo National Hospital by the Lions Club of Wellawatta (West)
recently.
The equipment was handed over to Dr. (Mrs) Malkanthi Jayasinghe
Consultant ENT Surgeon by Lion Lady Diedre Earp, President of the Lions
Club of Medway UK. Lion Diedre was in Sri Lanka on the invitation of
Lion Chithral Jayawardena, Chairman of the project. The handing over
ceremony was held at the office of Director of the Colombo South General
Hospital.
At a separate ceremony, a sum of Rs. 100,000 was handed over to
little child Akindu, who was in need of a cochlear implant. The monies
were collected by Lion Mike Medler of the Whitstable Lions Club, UK, in
response to an appeal made by the Lions Club of Wellawatta (West). |
