Special team investigates Rupavahini fracas

IGP Victor Perera has called in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the fracas that took place at the Rupavahini Corporation when the Labour Minister Mervyn Silva and his supporters entered the room of the News Director T. M. G. Chandrasekera and allegedly assaulted him and dragged him by his tie to the Chairman's room.

CID sources said that a special team led by a Senior Supdt. of Police have been detailed to investigate the fracas in which Rupavahini Corporation employees held the Minister and his supporters in a room for several hours.

The Minister and his official body guard sustained minor injuries when the employees assaulted them as they were escorted out of the premises by the police.
