Grade one admissions on Jan. 17

The Education Ministry on Thursday directed the principals of public schools to recruit children to Grade one classes on January 17.

Education Minister, Susil Premajayantha told the `Sunday Observer' that all interviews, related to school admissions for the year 2008 have been finalised according to the directive made by the Supreme Court early this year.

The Education Ministry also directed school authorities to display the names and other details of selected children in school premises, to enable anyone to make complaints in regard to irregular selections.

Meanwhile, Minister Premajayantha said the cut off marks of the scholarship examination which was held in August this year have been released and children have to be recruited to Grade six classes from January 20.
