Applications for O/L, A/L exams sans NIC details to be rejected

Commissioner General of Examinations, Anura Edirisinghe on Wednesday said that applications by candidates sitting the (AL) and (OL) examinations without details of National Identity Cards (NICs) will be rejected.

He said the Department had already informed school principals and heads of all authorised educational institutions in this regard.

"Although students without NICs were allowed to set the GCE (AL) and (OL) examinations in previous years, a firm decision has now been taken in this regard from this year to eliminate malpractices such as impersonation".

According to Examination Department sources applications for the forthcoming GCE (AL) examination will be called from March 1.

The Commissioner, Department of Registration of Persons A.G. Dharmadasa said a program to expedite the distribution of NICs would be launched from this year to cater to school children to obtain their NICs without delay.
