That glass of milk
by Lakmal Welabada
"Ooops".. was the first word that came out of me early in the morning
today. The milk which was boiling on the stove was about to spill over,
and with great difficulty I managed to save both the milk and then the
stove from the mess that would have given me a lot of trouble.
"Watch out and switch off the stove when the milk starts to bubble.
It's all basic cooking," said my mother-in-law once. However, it was
great to see my family gulping down the saved fresh milk amidst the busy
schedule in the morning.

Some says fresh dairy milk can become an allergy especially for those
who are suffering with catarrh. "Boil the milk with a piece of raw
ginger as it would diminish the effect of the allergens in it," said my
friend once.
Consuming fresh dairy milk seems to be becoming popular along with
several massive developing projects launched by the Government to
remodel it. Nearly 15,000 cows from the world's best dairy farms are
expected to bring down within the next few years.
People in ancient Sri Lanka were said to be strong and healthy and
were called giants. And the work that they had done such as building
huge palaces, pagodas and tanks out of granite stones have become
marvels. The people of these era lead long and healthy lives.
Living with nature while eating natural food were their only secrets.
The fact is that they did all this without consuming 'vitamins' and
other powdered and semi solid dairy products produced to the world by
the so called multi-national companies as it has been happening today.
Fresh milk gives a lot of nutrients including Calcium and energy. A
glass of properly boiled milk would be a good remedy to many food
deficiencies in our body. Why not try to consume a big glass of milk at
least once a week and see the difference.
