'Puppy Love' on Valentine's Day
EMBARK, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative
spearheaded by Otara Gunewardene, will wager that "Puppy Love" which
will be on everybody's minds this Valentine's Day, as it uses this
universal celebration of love to promote the cause of finding homes for
stray puppies.
The EMBARK's "Puppy Love" program, in conjunction with the AWPA
(Animal Welfare and Protection Association) has been launched in-store
at ODEL's flagship outlet at Alexandra Place online at www.odel.lk and
even on the popular social networking site Face Book, and will attempt
to appeal to people's hearts this season, thus getting them to adopt a
puppy.
With an ultimate goal of finding long-lasting and responsible homes
for stray puppies, this long-term initiative by EMBARK invites the
community to get involved in finding homes by asking them to choose
those best suited to receive a puppy.
"Puppy Love" will also ensure that the adoption program will be
carried out in a responsible manner by requiring that those adopting
puppies take the extraordinary step of signing a "Responsible Dog
Ownership Form", which obligates them to take responsibility for all
aspects of the puppy's care.
The agreement also specifies that new owners will have to commit to
random visits by members of the AWPA where they will ensure the puppy's
well-being and monitor its adjustment to new surroundings.
If there is any reason for concern, the agreement entitles the AWPA
to return the puppy to the shelter. |
