Srimath Indrajith Liyanage
|
Srimath Indrajith Liyanage, started his career as an announcer in
1980, as a school dropout from Nalanda College. As a novice in the field
he took up the challenge, handling many programmes at the SLBC such as
Wasantha Sandella, Saraswathie Mandapaya and so on.
Gaining more experience through his well acclaimed performances he
moved on to many television and radio channels and showed his true
colours.
The famous political program 'Muhunata Muhuna' on City FM was
modulated by him.
Moreover 'Patikiriya' on commercial service, 'Galbore' on Max radio,
'Madumal Thotilla' on Isura FM were the popular programmes conducted by
him. Apart from entertaining listeners by various enticing programmes,
he captured many a heart of audience, not only by his charismatic voice
but also by his gestures in programmes such as Ayubowan, Subha Udesanak,
Eheta Kanata and Gee Hatha on Rupavahini and Kalarasanga, Komala Rekha,
Sandella and Suraksha on ITN.
Sawanata Geemadu on TNL, Alakamandawa on MTV also among the heart
seizing programmes Indrajith brought on TV.
He is currently serving as a coordinator of Max TV. He is also a
dubbing artiste and has shown his talents in Praveena, Harry Potter and
Bay Watch programmes.
His ambition from his childhood was to be an actor. But the fate
directed him somewhere, keeping him still in the field of media. He
never let his desire die in his heart.
He acted in many films such as Rajya Sevaya Pinisai, Le Kiri Kandulu
and Sonduru Dadabima. Ma Go Di Go Di is his latest contribution.
"When we entered the field of media, we had a huge responsibility as
announcers towards the society and we did our best to set forth the
mission. Unfortunately we have to admit that today's announcers do not
know what their responsibility is.
They just talk without much care about the language they apeak of and
they take little consideration of what they are speaking about. It's
very rare to find a qualified announcer in the field today, most of the
younger generation announcers are like chatter boxes and talking
parrots.
My intension is to produce a qualified set of announcers through high
quality training before they enter the field. I try my best to do that
through my 'Katahanda' announcers training programme".
The veteran media personality is now a gigantic figure in the field
having nearly thirty years of experience. He has been trained under many
qualified media personnel such as H. M. Gunasekera, Siryl Rajapakse,
Lalith S. Maithreepala and Palitha Perera.
He is delighted to produce a book on announcing for the first time in
Sri Lanka. Apart from Muhunata Muhuna, he has also written Peeli Panina
Naharawel a collection of lyrics and poems, Tsunami Sapaya, Patikiriya,
Panhindaka Sanhinda and a story book for children named Raththaran Amma.
He will be setting another landmark in his aesthetic life on February
17 at Lumbini theatre at 6 p.m. The launching of his latest book 'Arumasi
Katahanda' on announcing and giving away of certificates to his students
who studied at his Katahanda announcers training centre.
It will be a delightful occasion filled with music and dances by
veteran musicians and dancers.
His latest book Arumasi Katahanda is on the expertise in the field
such as Karunaratne Abeysekera, Ariyadasa Peiris, H. M. Gunasekera,
Lalith S. Maithreepala, Siril Rajapakse, Hadson Samarasinghe, Palitha
Perera, Berty Galahitiyawa, Nanda Jayamanna, Gemunu Wijesuriya, Newton
Gunaratne and Sumana Nellampitiya and copies will be presented to them
on the same occasion. |
