Mithun and Danushi fourth in Bangladesh

GOLF: Two of Sri Lanka's young golfers, Mithun Perera and Dhanushi Senadhira, finished fourth in the men's and women's categories respectively at the Bangladesh Open Amateur Championships in Dhaka last week.

Mithun Perera was fourth in the men's category with a gross 288 (67, 73, 74, 74), while the experienced Tissa Chandradasa ended in seventh position with a gross 292 (69, 71, 75, 77). The former led on the first day with a round of 67. The champion was a Bangladeshi with a gross 283 (74, 69, 71, 69).

Dhanushi who was fourth in the women's category with a gross 168 (83, 85), while Nilee Jayatilleke, who won the Pakistan Amateur title a few months back, was sixth with a gross 171 (85, 86). The title was won by a Malaysian with a gross 147 with rounds of 74 and 73.

However, Sri Lanka's men's side comprising Mithun Perera and Tissa Chandradasa won the Team event with 283 with Bangladesh and Mynmar tying for the second berth with 290.
