Trade promotion to boost Palestine - SL tourism
Ambassador of the State of Palestine Dr. Anwar Al-Agha paid a
courtesy call to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) last week, where
he met the Chamber's Secretary General/CEO Prema Cooray, Chief Operating
Officer, Harin Malwatte and Chairman Mahen Dayananda.
The Ambassador who was keen on strengthening bilateral trade ties
spoke on the Palestine Investment Conference, scheduled to take place
from May 21-23 in Bethlehem. Over 700 participants are expected to take
part from the International Business Community representing the Middle
East. Africa and Europe. It is organised by the IMF and World Bank.
According to the Ambassador, this is the first business conference to be
organised in Palestine.
"There is great potential for trade in garments, tea and agriculture
between Sri Lanka and the State of Palestine," the Ambassador said in
response to a query posed by the Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber.
The Ambassador was also hopeful of improved tourism between the two
countries, based on the positive response received from a tour group
which visited Sri Lanka recently. |
