Flash back on the final:
Finally, IPL fever is over
By Panchamee Hewavissenti
The IPL is over after six weeks of glamour and clamour when the
Rajastan Royals emerged champions with a three wicket victory over
Chennai Super Kings at the Dr. D.Y. Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai, June
01.
Rajastan Royals and Chennai Super Kings entered for the final and
Royals was the most successful team having won 12 matches out of 15.
In the final, Swapnil Asnodkar’s score of 28 off 20 balls, 4
boundaries and Yusuf Pathan ‘s 56 off 39 balls including three fours,
four sixes which drastically helped Royals to win the crown. Royals’
perfection was shown in every department- batting, bowling and fielding.
IPL’s most outstanding player- Shane Watson delivered in both batting
and bowling. He harnessed the pace on the ball and used his feet and
wrist in a better way. He made thundering blows and exquisite shots
square off the wicket.
Yusuf Pathan became the “Player of the final” who lashed two huge
sixes off Muralitharan. Super Kings were unable to send Pathan off early
from the ground which ultimately kept Super Kings off the track for the
crown.
Warne: the magical captain
Rajastan Royals got the edge over the others, thanks to its coach and
captain Shane Warne without whose directions the Rajastan Royals
wouldn’t have been able to bag the memorable IPL Championship after a
heavy battle.
I would like to add a word about the captain of Rajastan Royals-
Shane Warne who recently announced his retirement from international
cricket.
He showed superb qualities of an ideal captain throughout the
tournament that any captain can follow. Warne’s explicitly portrayed the
knack of teaming up and being able to utilize team spirit to its
fullest.
Warne- depicting natural qualities of a captain paved new paths for
the Rajastan Royals to strive towards the target. Undoubtedly the
individual behind making Rajastan Royal’s IPL dream a reality was none
other than the 33 year old Shane Warne.
The team was inspired by the motivational words and morale
encouragement received from the captain of RR. He has been a great
inspiration right through for the team members to play without fear of
failure.
Keeping faith in every player in his team he strengthened the
confidence and morale standard of the team during practice as well as
during the match. Warne mastered the psychological part of playing
cricket which took the team to a smashing success.
Though at the beginning of the tournament Royals seemed to be a bit
apprehensive, the guidance of the captain and the coach Jereme Snape
would have put the team at ease. Warne was often seen on the field
chatting with his teammates especially with Yusuf Pathan. Those
discussions would have been about the field placements - what the
batsman would do with the next bowl. |
