Most popular schoolboy cricketers to be decided on Thursday
The Observer-Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer 2008 All-Island
and Outstation contests winners would be known on Thursday as the voting
would close at 12 noon.
Ruwantha Fernandopulle of St. Joseph’s College and Rasitha Dilan of
Bandaranayake MV, Gampaha takes commanding leads in the All-Island and
Outstation contests in the penultimate week of results which will appear
on page 20.
Meanwhile, the selection panel of the 30th Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy
Cricketer of the Year contest met at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel on
Wednesday to evaluate the performances of all inter-school cricket
performances during the recently concluded 2007/08 season.
The panel comprising members from the Sri Lanka Cricket Umpires and
Scorers Association (SLCUSA) and Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association
short-listed players under each category before they identify the final
award winners to be announced at the Mega Show.
The selection panel was headed by the former Sri Lanka Test captain
Hashan Tillakaratne who was recently appointed as the new SLCUSA
President.
The much looked forward to Mega awards presentation of the 30th
Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year contest will be held at
the BMICH on July 18. A limited number of special entry passes are
