Religious ceremonies at Sri Subodharama Buddhist Centre

A series of religious ceremonies will be held at the Sri Subodharama
Buddhist Centre today and on July 9. The ceremonial opening of the newly
built Meditation Retreat Centre at Ambuluwawa, Gampola will take place
today at 2 p.m.
A series of pinkamas will be held at the Buddhist Centre on July 9 to
mark the birthday of Ven Wattegama Dhammawasa Nayaka Thera, the present
Viharadhipathi, the Head of the Sri Lankaramaya, Brisbane, Australia and
also the Chief Sangha Nayaka for Australia.
Cattle meant for slaughter will be released at 6 a.m. and a blood
donation campaign will be conducted till 2 p.m.. The religious ceremony
offering 10,000 lotus flowers to the Buddha will be held at 6 p.m.
The annual ceremony to award prizes and certificates to the student
bhikkhus of the Sri Gnanalankara International Bhikkhu Training
Institute will be held on July 9. It will commence at 2 p.m. with a
meeting to be held under the chairmanship of the president of the all
ceylon Amarapura Sect, the most Ven, Aggamaha Panditha Kotugoda
Dhammawasa Nayaka Thera. The ceremony will end with the distribution of
three new Dhamma books. |
