Business Today Top Ten

receives the Business Today Top 10 award for the No. 1 Company
from President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees.

The Business Today ‘Top Ten’ awards ceremony took place at Temple
Trees under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The ceremony
celebrates corporate excellence and recognises the top ten companies for
2006 - 2007. Galaboda Gnanissara Thera, chief incumbent of the
Gangaramaya temple, ministers, diplomats and others were present.
Secretary to the President, Lalith Weeratunga congratulated the
winners and said that he was aware of the selection process being open
and impartial.
Weeratunga said that President Rajapaksa has been a part of the ‘Top
Ten’ since he was Prime Minister and that the business community
contributed to his election into office. The Ven Thera called upon the
business community to support him in his campaign to help students so
they have a chance to progress.
He said he believes President Rajapaksa is supportive of the business
community. Many corporates gave donations towards this valued cause.
The best corporate performer of the year 2006 - 2007 went to Dialog
Telekom.
The award was received by Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, CEO, Dialog Telekom.
In second place was Sri Lanka Telecom followed by Distilleries Company
of Sri Lanka. John Keels Holdings and Aitken Spence and Company were in
fourth and fifth places.
At sixth place was Hatton National Bank and Commercial Bank came in
at seventh place. NDB Bank was ranked at eighth place with Ceylon
Tobacco Company coming in at ninth and The Bukit Darah at tenth. |
