The Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation (CFHC) has completed the
rebuilding of all tsunami hit fishery harbours with USA, Chinese and
Japanese assistance.
The Puranawella-Devinuwara fishery harbour reconstructed under USAID
at a cost of Rs. 600 million will be opened on August 8, said CFHC
Chairman, Asanga Abeyagunasekera.
He said that ten fishery harbours of the 12 were affected by the
tsunami devastation.
The Beruwela, Panadura, Kudawella, Galle, Tangalle, Mirissa and
Hikkaduwa fishery harbours were reconstructed at a cost of Rs. 3,600
million, he said.
The Puranawella-Devinuwara fishery harbour is the last of the
devastated fishery harbours to be reconstructed, he said.
"All reconstruction projects were focused on building the breakwaters
and the provision of shore facilities such as boat lifting, net mending,
auction space and office complexes.
High pressure fuel guns to service the boats more efficiently were
installed ," he said. |
