Woodlands Cricket Sixes Aug. 16 and 17

CRICKET: Woodlands Sports Club have organised a hard-ball Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament to celebrate the 25th anniversary on August 16 and 17 at Shalika Grounds, Narahenpita.

According to the President Dhammika Gamage, the club has been quite active and had participated in Division Three Cricket Tournaments conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket and Colombo District Cricket Association for almost 12 years. They has also been participating in softball and hardball sixes tournaments.

This is a fund-raising project and Woodlands Sports Club is participating in the Division Three Tournaments this year. Cricket Board umpires will be officiating at the tournament.

The club is hoping that around 32 teams will participate from various companies and many recognised clubs like Fingara SC, Hidaramani and teams from HSBC, to name just a handful.

The Mayoress of Dehiwela-Mount Lavinai Municipal Council and Mr. Mervin Jayasinghe - the President of Fingara Cricket Club will be the chief guest sat the tournament.

The champions ill be given a prize of Rs. 30,000 and the runners-up will get Rs. 20,000. A team will comprise eight players and the entry will be Rs. 3,000 per team and entries will close on or before July 30.
