Singer Sri Lanka Sevens to celebrate 10th anniversary

RUGBY: Kandy Sports Club introduced the Singer Sri Lankan
Sevens in 1998. This was done to celebrate the upcountry clubs 125 years
of existence in the country. This year’s tournament will be worked off
at Nittawela Rugby Stadium from 5-7 September 2008.
The tournament will be contested with 10 nations taking part and the
notable absentees will be Japan and Hong Kong, as usual citing security
concerns.
South Korea, Arabian Gulf, China, Taipei, India, Kazakhastan,
Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Sri Lanka are the participating
nations. Hong Kong, China and India are the defending Cup, Plate and
Bowl champions respectively.
The following schools will participate at the event in the schools
section: St. Anthony’s, Kingswood, Dharmaraja, Vidyartha, St.
Sylvester’s, Royal, Isipatana, St. Peter’s, Wesley, Ananda, Nalanda and
St. Joseph’s.
