MoU to recreate ‘Galle Season’
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Hemakumara
Nanayakkara, Minister of Agriculture, Chairman of the Galle Season
Committee and President of the Galle Library Committee and Glenda
Parthipan, on behalf of Emphasis, which is assisted by BT Options.
The Galle Season 2008 is set to be a series of events designed to
recreate the ‘Galle Season’ placing emphasis on the traditions and way
of life, having an overall general focus on the majestic and historic
Dutch Fort.
The Galle Season will take place from December 23 - 29 under the
guidance of Minister Nanayakkara in his capacity of Chairman, Galle
Season Committee and President of the Galle Library Committee.
Minister Nanayakkara is the brainchild behind this concept, which is
to raise funds to develop and enhance the Galle Library, one of the most
historic libraries in Sri Lanka, which was built in 1832.
Minister Nanayakkara said, “Today is a significant day, as we take
the next step in moving forward towards recreating the Galle Season,
which will foster peace and harmony as well as helping old traditions
come to life.
We take great pride in having chosen Emphasis, a reputed, reliable,
efficient and dynamic company to be our partner in this initiative.
I have the utmost faith that emphasis, ably assisted by BT Options,
will ensure that this will be an unforgettable, glamorous and dignified
event of the year.”
The partner hotel in Colombo for the initiative is the Galle Face
Hotel.
