Becton Dickinson Group to introduce health care products

The Becton Dickinson Group of India in collaboration with A. Baur and
Co.Ltd, plans to introduce innovative health care products in Sri Lanka.
A nine-member team from the Becton Dickinson Group, India was here
recently to promote their range of medical products in Sri Lanka.
Managing Director of Becton Dickinson of India, Rauff Sharma said the
company manufactures a wide range of medical supplies, devices and
laboratory equipment.
He said Becton Dickinson holds the leadership position globally in
needles and syringes and was the largest manufacturer. "Around 20
million people globally were infected with hepatitis and with HIV by
using unsafe needles", he said.
In response to questions posed by the media, Sharma said the product
available in the United States was the identical product available in
India and elsewhere. The quality of the product has not been compromised
anywhere, he said.
Becton Dickinson's operations in Sri Lanka commenced about eight
years ago with the first shipment of drugs to the State Pharmaceuticals
Corporation (SPC). Since then Becton Dickinson had won the SPC Merit
Award consecutively for three years - from 2005-2007.
Baur and Company's Director, Mahanama Dodampegama said they started
working with Becton Dickinson eight years ago. "We have demonstrated to
Becton Dickinson in developing technology and transferring them to the
health care sector."
"When people visit private sector hospitals they will find that the
latest innovative methods were used to draw blood from patients. We have
done a lot in this area," he said. Meanwhile the Becton Dickinson Group
India has selected Sri Lanka as a venue to host their management
meeting.
Becton Dickinson is a global company that manufactures and sells
medical devices, instruments and systems. Founded in 1897, the main
office complex is in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.
The company employs 28,000 people in 50 countries and serves health
care institutions, science researchers, laboratories and the
pharmaceutical industry. |
