Ceylon Glass now Piramal Glass Ceylon PLC

Ceylon Glass Company Plc, incorporated in 1955 donned a new image to become Piramal Glass Ceylon Plc.

CEO of the company, Sanjay Tiwari, said a major re-branding exercise had recently been carried out across the Piramal Group, resulting in a need to pause and ponder - not just on the Company's performance, but also its dreams and ambitions. "These deliberations led us to adopt the new corporate identity of Piramal Glass, aligned to the new identity of the Piramal Group. Thus in line with this new corporate identity, Ceylon Glass Company Plc is now known as Piramal Glass Ceylon PLC".

Tiwari said the commencement of the Company's relationship with Piramal Glass Ltd (formerly known as Gujarat Glass Ltd) of India in 1999 was a major milestone in the progress story of the company. Since 1999 Ceylon Glass Company has been a subsidiary company of Piramal Glass Ltd.

The value of the Group is embedded in its new logo - the Gyan Mudra which is an aesthetic hand posture practised in yoga, meditation and dance over the past 3,000 years. "The three fingers in their varying formations symbolise the mind, the body and the intellect, in short our core values of knowledge, action and care. Harmonising with each other, they aspire to form a circle of perfection, peace and happiness", said Tiwari.

The Company also recently bagged the coveted Business Superbrand status. The Superbrands program which currently operates in over 55 countries acknowledges a variety of categories of brands. The latest program being rolled out in Sri Lanka recognises those products marketed to other business through Business Superbrands.

" Not only has the company invested in Plant and Machinery, but also in Human Capital by building a strong technical and management team with sound experience and qualifications" said Tiwari. The Company's Glass manufacturing operations is headed by U. P. Hettige, General Manager, Operations and supported by a pool of trained and skilled engineers, while Accounts and Finance is headed by Mrs Niloni Boteju, Financial Controller. A K L M Fowzin, a law graduate with an MBA heads the HR and IR, while the Supply Chain operations are currently being restructured by consolidating sourcing, imports, despatch and warehousing under one umbrella headed by Palitha Piyanandana, a Mechanical Engineer. Piramal Glass Ceylon has also strengthened it's Marketing team by adding a dedicated team for exports under the leadership of T. P. Sheriffdeen, General Manager Marketing.

"We are confident of a vibrant future for Piramal Glass and look forward to becoming a major player in the niche glass market globally," said Tiwari.
