Police in stunning win over NCC
Police SC came up with a stunning performance to upset the formidable
NCC team by seven runs in a first round match in the Inter-club Cricket
Sixes organised by Cambrians Cricket Wing which started at De Soysa
Stadium Moratuwa yesterday.
Police SC batting first made 57 in their allotted five overs with D.
Rajapakse making 28. In their turn NCC could only make 50 for 1 with
Mario Thomas remaining unbeaten with 35.
Singha SC also scored a surprising win over the more fancied Tamil
Union by three wickets in their match.
Tamil Union batting first made 80 for 1 in their allotted five overs
with Sachith Pathirana scoring 50 not out. Singha SC reached the target
for the loss of two wickets helped by a fine knock of 54 from Asela
Wewalwela.
In another match SSC overcame Ragama CC By four runs. SSC made 72 for
1 in their turn with Kaushal Lokuarachchi making 20. Ragama CC could
only reply with 68 for 2 with Indika de Saram making 29.
In another game Army SC beat Old Cambrians by 20 runs. Army SC made
66 for 1 with S. Prasanna making a sparkling 55 not out to which the Old
Cambrians replied with 46 for 2.
In another game CCC overcame Weera SC by 10 runs. CCC made 65 for 2
helped by a knock of 33 by Gihan de Silva. Weera SC in reply made 55 for
1.
