Royal enter national waterpolo finals with two resounding wins

WATERPOLO: Royal College gave yet another pleasing performance to
enter the final of the National Men's Waterpolo Championship with two
resounding wins over S. Thomas College 'B' and Otter Aquatic Club in the
preliminary round matches played at the Sugathadasa Stadium pool
yesterday.
Royal's opponents in the final will be S. Thomas College 'A' who also
had two victories over Sri Lanka Air Force and MAS Sports Club. Royal
trounced Thomian 'B' side by 22 goals to 1 and outclassed Otter AC by 18
goals to 2 while Thomian 'A' side defeated Sri Lanka Air Force by 11
goals to 8 and edged out the defending champions MAS Sports Club 6 goals
to 4.
The men's final will be played on November 14.
SL Air Force in final
Sri Lanka Air Force entered the finals of the Women's Waterpolo
Championships after a lapse of 4 years. Yesterday Air Force defeated
Bishop's College by 6 goals to 5 in extra time in the semi-finals.
Air Force will meet the defending champions Visakha Vidyalaya who
beat MAS Sports Club 3 goals to 2 in the other semi-finals. The finals
will be played on November 13 at 7 p.m. Match results: Men's: MAS beat
Police 15-3, S. Thomas' 'A' beat Air Force 11-8, Otter AC beat Air Force
5-3, Royal beat S. Thomas 'B' 22-1, S. Thomas 'A' beat MAS 6-4, Royal
beat Otter AC 18-2.
